Implementing a New Budget Approach

The University is implementing our new budget approach for FY22 due to the work of the Strategic Budget Task Force (SBTF). The SBTF examined key issues related to Penn State's budget processes and made recommendations in August 2019 about a new strategic budgeting approach.

Strategic Budget Approach Initiative

The task force recommended changes in three key areas to ensure institutional success:

  • Overall Budgeting Approach
  • Operating Budget
  • Capital Planning

Today, an Executive Committee and four working groups collaborate on the new budget processes and policies and determine the necessary technology to implement the SBTF recommendations. To learn more about the Strategic Budget Approach initiative, visit  budget.psu.edu/StrategicBudgeting.
